The scent strip (blotter) solves this — one drop on the tip and you can follow the material's evolution over minutes, hours or even days, from the top notes to the dry-down.

They are indispensable for comparing different batches of the same material, assessing how two ingredients interact by holding two strips together, and documenting how your compositions evolve over time (write the name and time on the dry end).
