Jasmine Sambac Absolute
Olfactory family
Primary: Floral
Secondary: White floral · Green · Animalic
Olfactory profile
Opens green and tea-like, noticeably drier than Jasminum grandiflorum and without its fruity-banana facet. The heart is a full white floral with a firm indolic core — the animalic, slightly overripe quality that gives jasmine its narcotic weight and, at higher dosage, its capacity to dominate. It settles into a warm, faintly leathery floral trace. The material is powerful on the blotter and quite different in a formula: what reads as heavy neat becomes luminous at low percentages.

Use in perfumery
Position: Heart note · structural material
The natural core of a white floral accord. Also used at trace level as a modifier, where a fraction of a percent adds body and radiance to florals that would otherwise read thin. In tea and green compositions it supplies both the floral and the slightly dirty counterweight that keeps them from turning simple.
Effect in composition
Adds volume, naturalness and radiance. Introduces an animalic depth that increases the perceived richness of a formula, and holds a floral heart together through the mid-phase.

Perfumer’s perspective
Sambac is the choice when a jasmine needs to read green and tea-like rather than lush and fruity — it sits more comfortably in modern, restrained briefs than grandiflorum does. It is also one of the most practical references here for anyone scaling a formula beyond sample volumes.
