Four roses, 1 g each. The complete rose axis of the Ambre Royale catalogue in one set.

Rose is not one material. A steam-distilled otto, a solvent-extracted absolute and a compounded rose base behave differently on the blotter, in a formula and over time — and the only way to learn that is to have them side by side. This set puts all four in front of you at evaluation scale, in the same amber glass, labelled and ready to work with. Four vials, 1 g each, 4 g in total.

What is in the set

  • Bulgarian Rose Otto — 1 g. Essential oil of Rosa damascena, steam-distilled. Producer SEBAT Gülyağı, Isparta (Türkiye). Batch KS250101, COA on file, citronellol 36.94%. Note: «Bulgarian» denotes the rose variety, not the country of cultivation.
  • Turkish Rose Oil — 1 g. Essential oil of Rosa damascena, steam-distilled. Producer SEBAT Gülyağı, Senir / Isparta (Türkiye). Batch KB250102, COA on file, citronellol 38.97%, geraniol 19.56%.
  • Bulgarian Rose Absolute — 1 g. Absolute of Rosa damascena by Robertet, France. Batch 3451773, Robertet code 00322535. Denser, jammier and more tenacious than the otto.
  • Taïf Rose Oil — 1 g. Rose base manufactured by Firmenich in Grasse, France. Batch 1004207108. A compounded material, not a distilled rose oil, supplied as a comparison reference against the two ottos.

How to use it

Evaluate on blotters first, side by side, then at 1% in ethanol. The two ottos differ mainly in the balance of citronellol to geraniol; the absolute carries the phenyl-ethyl-alcohol weight that ottos lack; the Firmenich base shows what stability and reproducibility cost you in complexity.

Documentation

COA, IFRA statement, allergen declaration and MSDS are available on request for the two SEBAT ottos. For the Robertet absolute and the Firmenich base, documentation is supplied as available for the lot in question.

Handling and safety

Professional and evaluation use. Undiluted materials — dilute before any application to skin, keep out of reach of children, store cool and closed. The Firmenich Taïf base carries the manufacturer classification H315, H317, H318, H341, H351, H412; request the safety data sheet before use. Buyers are responsible for compliance with Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and CLP in their own finished products.
